The Importance of Christian Education

The Importance of Christian Education

In the New Testament Jesus was called a Teacher 45 times,  but never a ‘Preacher’ though He preached. In Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me. Therefore go and made disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Christianity is teaching faith.

2 Timothy 2:2 said, “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.” There are five levels of teaching here. In Acts 2:42 has, “They  devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer”. The word teacher/teach/teaching are used 18 times in 1 Timothy, 9 times in 2 Timothy and 7 times in Titus. These show the great importance of Christian education.

The Church in the world has six important functions. There are :
1.      Proclamation (Kerygma)
2.      Fellowship (Koinonia)
3.      Service  (Diakonia)
4.      Prophetic Voice (Propheteia)
5.      Worship (Leitourgia)
6.      Teaching (Didache)
None of the first five could be done without the sixth one !

If you are unable to find the transparency you desire in an environment that promotes itself as open and honest, it may be natural to question the authenticity and integrity of that place. In such circumstances, it may be tempting to consider an alternative, even if it is perceived as less desirable. However, it is important to approach this situation with caution and careful consideration. Here are a few points to keep in mind: Assess your needs and values: Reflect on what is most important to you in a living environment or social circle.
